Location Fix — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 26 July 2026

The short version: Location Fix uses your location, and we never see it. Your saved places live on your device and in your own iCloud account. There is no server of ours anywhere in the picture, no account to create, and nothing about where you have been ever reaches us.

Location, and the difference that matters

Location Fix is an app for saving places, so of course it uses your location — it could not drop a pin where you are standing otherwise. macOS and iOS ask your permission before it can, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings; the app still works for pins you drop by hand.

What matters is what happens next: nothing leaves your device except to your own iCloud. Your coordinates are not sent to us, not sold, not shared with advertisers, and not used to build a profile. We operate no server that could receive them.

Where your places are stored

Saved places — names, coordinates, addresses, photos, notes, subjects and pin colours — are stored on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, they sync between your own iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud account, under Apple's terms and encryption. We have no access to that account and no visibility into what is in it.

Turn iCloud sync off and everything stays on the one device. Delete the app and its local data goes with it; anything already synced remains in your iCloud until you remove it there.

The network connections the app makes

Location Fix is not an offline-only app, and here is exactly what it does connect to.

Maps. Map tiles come from Apple Maps, which necessarily involves telling Apple which part of the map you are looking at. That is Apple’s service under Apple’s privacy policy, not ours.

Weather. When you select a pin, the app fetches the current conditions for that pin’s coordinates from a weather service. That request contains a location and nothing that identifies you — no name, no account, no device identifier. It happens only when you look at a pin.

iCloud. Sync between your own devices, through your own account, if you have it enabled.

Nothing else. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising network, no third-party tracking SDK. The app will never ask permission to track you, because there is nothing to track with.

When you route, share, or send a place

Routing with Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze, sending a place to a Tesla or Rivian, or sharing to Messages or WhatsApp all hand the destination over to that other app or service. From that moment it is governed by their privacy policy, not this one. It only ever happens because you asked for it, and it is worth knowing that Google, Waze and the rest will treat that destination the way they treat any other.

Photos

You can attach a photo to a place. iOS asks your permission before the app can reach your photo library, and the photo you pick is stored with that place — on your device and in your iCloud, like everything else. Photos are never uploaded to us. If you share a place, the photo goes with it to whoever you shared it with.

Siri and Shortcuts

Location Fix offers actions to Siri and the Shortcuts app so you can drop a pin or navigate hands-free. Siri requests are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We receive nothing from them.

Children

Location Fix collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, or the equivalent age where you live, because we do not collect information from anybody.

Your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights over personal data a company holds about you. We hold none — your places are yours, on your devices and in your iCloud. There is nothing for us to access, export, correct or delete, and we are glad to confirm that in writing if you need it.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be posted here with a new effective date. Because Location Fix collects nothing, no change will ever introduce data collection without a separate and prominent notice in the app itself.
